My accomplishments in this area...

In a world where technology has taken over our lives, I find solace in sitting down and getting lost in the pages of a good book. I know that our students need that as well, whether they know it or not. They are surrounded by media messages constantly, and they need time to simply read and escape reality for just a little while. My job as a librarian is to foster that need and create an environment that makes that possible no matter where they might be located. Through our literature, technology can most certainly be used, but it should promote the independent reading that we know to create lifelong learners and inquirers. I have created quite a few ways to support that literacy through the library, and because I feel so strongly about it, I have become quite successful in this area.
